An anomaly is something unusual in the operation of an app or other service. Could be a fluke. But too often, anomalies turn into a tangle of issues that degrade or halt services impacting the customer experience. Moogsoft automatically finds the pertinent anomaly for faster MTTD and MTTR.

Adaptive detector is useful for metrics with consistent ranges in normal conditions. Threshold detector is useful with fixed thresholds for normal vs. anomalous behavior. Bitwise / false detectors are for binary metrics such as “System Up/Down.” Moogsoft automatically selects the best approach for each metric.
